Senior Services
CAP Agency offers services that help seniors stay safe, connected, nourished, and supported in their own homes and communities.
In-home services, yard maintenance, homemaker services, assisted transportation, home modifications, and minor home repair.
Healthy meals for eligible adults age 60 and older, including congregate meals and home delivered meals based on location.
Year-round support including summer lawn mowing, fall leaf raking, winter snow removal, and spring clean-up activities.
Deep cleaning, routine cleaning, one-time decluttering, minor home repair, and other special projects.
Homemaker services include laundry, grocery shopping, and small meal preparation.
Rides to the grocery store, doctor appointments, and other needed destinations with a return trip home.
Home Modification may include hand railing installation, shower grab bar installation, broken door replacement, and other projects.
The goal of CHORE is to help seniors live independent, dignified lives safely in their own homes while providing community involvement for engaged volunteers.
All work is done by carefully screened volunteers or independent contractors.
Seniors pay a sliding fee scale based on their stated monthly income. No one is denied service due to inability to pay.
CHORE is funded by Metropolitan Area Agency on Aging for participants age 60 and older, community donations, client cost-share donations, and agency funding.
How to Apply for CHORE
A senior may request services for themselves, or a family member may refer someone who could benefit from CHORE services.

If potentially eligible, a home visit is arranged so staff can see the scope of the project in person.
After approval, appropriate volunteers or independent contractors are matched with the senior.

CHORE is funded through a combination of grants and individual donations and could not operate without community partners and individual gifts.
Volunteer opportunities are available to assist seniors who are staying in their homes.
Free training and support are available. Volunteers can choose to help with a one-time task or provide ongoing assistance to a senior.

Congregate meals are served midday in Belle Plaine and Jordan.
Home delivered meals are delivered directly to seniors in eligible service areas.
Adults age 60 and older with a need for meals are eligible, regardless of income. A suggested donation of $6 per meal is appreciated but not required. If you cannot contribute, meals will still be provided.
