Adopt-a-Family spreads the joy of the holidays by providing children and families with gifts. Client families create wish lists and are matched with donors who donate gifts specific to those families.

Your financial obligation for each child adopted is $50, including one $50 gift card for the parent/adults in the home.

Important Adopt-a-Family Dates

November 15th: “Adopted” family’s Wish List(s) will be emailed to donors
November 7th: Adopt-a-Family sign-up closes

The drop-off date for Adopt a Family donations will be confirmed via Wish List email by November 15th.

Brighten a senior’s day by providing comfort and care items this holiday season! Registration is open through Monday, December 1st, so please sign up and help us plan for how many seniors will receive gift bags this year.

This Holiday season, please fill a reusable bag with items our seniors most often need. The goodie bag of items you purchase will be hand delivered, creating a personal connection during a holiday season that is lonely for many older adults.

Donors fill a reusable bag with the following items, which are then dispersed to participating seniors:

– Dish soap
– Dish towels/Hand Towels
– Hand Soap
– Tissues/Kleenex
– Paper towel (1 roll)
– Package or can of ground coffee, tea, hot cider, or hot chocolate
– Snacks like nuts, dried fruit, fruit cups, granola bars, oatmeal packets, candy
– $10 Gift card (Cub, Walgreens, Dollar Store)

Other suggested items (include 1-2 of the following): slippers, fuzzy socks, puzzle, books, word search, greeting cards/note cards, stamps, a hand-written note, small art project.

Write a special note or include a holiday card for your senior! A friendly note goes a long way in showing that someone cares.

Filled bags can be dropped off from December 1-12 at these two locations:

-CAP Agency Food Shelf Shakopee: any time during business hours (738 1st Ave E)
-CAP Agency Rosemount: at the front desk any time during business hours (2496 145th St W)

This year we added the Amazon Wish List as a way to donate gifts to our Toy Distribution program. This option makes giving easy; all you do is click the wish list created by CAP clients, and packages will be sent directly to our food shelf for distribution. Please email us to let us know you ordered so we can thank you and provide you with a donation receipt. This is a great way to give to those in need during the busy holiday season!

Toy Distribution differs from Adopt-a-Family and Adopt-a-Senior in that a donor gathers new toys to be distributed to the greater community instead of being paired directly with a family. This is a great opportunity for companies, churches, or community clubs looking for a year-end donation opportunity. Specifically, toys are distributed to children from birth to age 18 whose families utilize CAP’s Food Shelf or Energy Assistance programs. Collected toys should not be gift wrapped.
