PROJECT STUDENT SUCCESS

Each August & September, CAP Agency provides students in need with a new backpack filled with school supplies to help them thrive: pencils, pens, folders, markers, notebooks, and more.

The program is open to current CAP clients living in Scott, Carver, and Dakota Counties with children in school (up through 12th grade).

School Supply Donations – Amazon Wish List

Help us fill backpacks with supplies! Now you can quickly donate supplies to CAP Agency students through our Amazon Wish List. The list has items you to purchase and help students start the year off right. Your items will be sent to the CAP Agency food shelf in Shakopee, and passed out during the supply distribution on August 7th.

Volunteers: Contact Maritza Real to help collect, sort, and distribute supplies.                                952-402-9843, mreal@capagency.org.

ESPERANZA

Esperanza has joined CAP Agency as a program focusing on serving new immigrants, at risk youth, and underserved and low-income youth and families. Through weekly fresh food distributions, the Esperanza program helps CAP Agency reach thousands of traditionally underserved people in need. Other services include cultural and community engagement, youth sports and outdoor activities (such as soccer), and other services through school-based partnerships.

Hope for the Holidays

2022 Holiday Giving Season is Closed. See you in 2023!

We ‘re excited to work with you again in 2023! Visit our volunteer page to learn how to support CAP families year-round. https://capagency.org/be-a-volunteer/

Help bring holiday cheer to CAP clients this season! With budgets being stretched thin for necessities, Hope for the Holidays eases the burden on parents and families, and provides comfort and connection to seniors. Hope for the Holidays matches donations with children, parents, and seniors to ensure everyone feels the generosity of the community through our support network, new gifts, and/or household supplies.

Please join us by donating gifts or volunteering your time to sort and pass out gifts. Last year, donors supplied gits for 3,252 individuals! This year’s goal is to match that goal by providing a gift for each individual. Thank you for your help with meeting this goal to make this season memorable.

There are 4 ways to participate in Hope for the Holidays in 2022, including our new Amazon Wish List option to make donating gifts easier during the busy holiday season.

Adopt-a-Family - Registration is closed for 2022. See you next year!

Adopt-a-Family spreads the joy of the holidays by providing children and families with gifts. Client families create wish lists and are matched with donors who donate gifts specific to those families.

This year we added the Amazon Wish List as a way to donate gifts to our Toy Distribution program. This option makes giving easy; all you do is click the wish list curated by CAP clients, and packages will be sent directly to our food shelf for distribution. Please email us to let us know you ordered so we can thank you and provide you with a donation receipt. This is a great way to give to those in need during the busy holiday season!

Toy Drive

Toy Distribution differs from Adopt-a-Family and Adopt-a-Senior in that a donor gathers new toys to be distributed to the greater community instead of being paired directly with a family. This is a great opportunity for companies, churches, or community clubs looking for a year-end donation opportunity. Specifically, toys are distributed to children from birth to age 18 whose families utilize CAP’s Food Shelf or Energy Assistance programs. Collected toys should not be gift wrapped.

Volunteer Opportunities

As the December holiday season quickly approaches, there are countless projects filled with the spirit of giving. Our holiday activities at the CAP Agency include Adopt-a-Family, Toy Distribution, and Adopt-a-Senior. Each of these activities depend on volunteers to ensure gifts are provided for the families we serve. Volunteering provides the opportunity to give toys to children or deliver essentials to a senior, and this helps remind us of the importance of caring.

We invite you, friends, family (including older children) to assist in selecting gifts for families and take this opportunity to give back to their community. We also welcome school groups, organizations, or local businesses to volunteer!
